Frequently Asked Questions

Flavors & FAQ

How far in advance should I place my order?

Custom order slots can book up months in advance, especially during the wedding season. Typically a month or two in advance is enough time to book an order on the off-seasons. This doesn't guarantee availability though, so it's always suggested to book as soon as you decide Michayla's Sweets is the right fit for your event! For wedding cakes, most clients book as soon as they know they’re engaged—that way they’re much more likely to secure their wedding date.

Can I visit your bakery?

Sorry to disappoint, but Michayla's Sweets is a home bakery (for now). Consults are done at a third-party location, or via phone/email. Since everything is made to order, there is no storefront location that's open to the public as a walk-in place to buy sweet treats.

What methods of payment do you accept?

Michayla's Sweets accepts online payment through a business Venmo page, or through Square. Square invoices are sent via email and can be paid online with most cards including Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover, and more. Your card info is kept private through the secure site. Cash and check are also accepted.

How do I store my cupcakes/cake?

Because Michayla's Sweets is a home bakery, all products follow the Wisconsin Cottage Food Safety laws and do not require refrigeration. Some customers prefer to store their taller cakes in the fridge for more stability, but it's not necessary. Products should always be stored on a sturdy table, in a cool/room temperature area, out of direct sunlight. Leftovers can be stored in the refrigerator in an airtight container for a few days, or frozen in an airtight container. These instructions will also come with your cake at the time of pickup.

Do you deliver?

The last thing you will want to worry about is having your cake tip over en route to your big event. For the brides or party planners who want to forgo the stress of transportation and set up, delivery is offered with pricing calculated by distance traveled. Delivery range is roughly within one hour of Eau Claire. Longer deliveries are determined on a case-by-case basis. It is not recommended that clients self-transport intricate cakes with fondant/wafer paper details, or cakes over 10 inches tall. Michayla's Sweets is not responsible for any damage that may occur to a client-transported cake once it has been picked up (although if possible, we'll always try to help).

How do I transport my cake?

For those who would like to transport their cakes themselves, bringing towels can help level your car seats. If your car allows for the passenger seat to move back far enough, the floor is often the flattest surface for your cakes. It's never recommended to transport items in your trunk, as this is a more bouncy and often warmer place of the vehicle.

I'm ready to order! How do I get in touch?

Please fill out the inquiry form, and Michayla will contact you to discuss more details or to let you know if your date is no longer available. Since this is a part-time business, it may take a few days to hear back- but don't worry! Your details will be reviewed as soon as possible.
